21/4 - THE DAY PRIORY BECAME CHAMPIONS

Following Priorys loss in midweek , Saturday 21st April 2007 was always going to be a big day in deciding the potential outcome of the Redhill & District Premier Division. Priory were scheduled to play away at Marlpit Utd and South Godstone were at home to 3rd place Limpsfield Blues. Then , Priory received the call that Marlpit had withdrawn from the game thus giving Priory 3 points. Priory then decided to train in preparation for Wednesdays Cup Final against Brockham and this reporter went up to Tattenham Way to support Priorys 'A' and 'B' Teams. Lomas & Vezza went to watch the South Godstone Vs Limpsfield Blues game where at this point South Godstone had to win. Then the first text message came in at 3.22pm , Limpsfield were winning 2-1. Next Text 3.51pm Limpsfield extended lead to 3-1. Next Text 4.30pm South Godstone pull one back , 3-2. Final Text Limpsfield win 4-2 and Priory had become Champions. Our commiserations go out to South Godstone whose recent run of results pushed the title race right to this conclusion and to Frenches Ath,Limpsfield Blues and Smallfield who have been part of the top five battle providing many thrilling twist and turns over the past few months.

Priory now prepare for the Senior Cup Final at Redhill on Wednesday against a tough Brockam side.
