Wednesdays Cup Final victory over Brockham secured Priorys first 'Double' in 100 years when in 1907 Reigate Priory were Champions of Southern Amateur League Senior B and went on to be winners of the AFA Surrey Senior Cup. However , Wednesdays game turned out to be full of drama and twists and turns. The match also attracted a big support for both teams and the banter and rivalry from the supporters added that edge to a very close game.  It was clear from the start that both teams were really up for it and time on the ball was at a premium. Passing football was out weighed by a more direct approach as both midfield were closed down quickly. Priory had a great chance within 5 mins as Ellett from 5 yds only had the keeper to beat but he failed to connect. Apart from free kicks into the box and the odd cross which both defences dealt with, the 1st half was void of good goal scoring opportunities. The second half started in the same format. Then , Brockham seized their opportunity when Priory failed to clear. With Shearman off his line the Brockham striker cleverly placed his shot over the keeper just under the bar to give Brockham a 1-0 advantage. Priory tried to get back into the game but they were failing to make progress against a stubborn Brockham outfit. With 15 mins remaining Priory made some changes with Luke Reid coming on up front to partner Moss and moments later Charles Reid coming on into right midfield. Priory were now starting to get going but with minutes remaining it looked like Brockham were going to hold out for victory. Then, with a free kick awarded , Priory had the opportunity to apply some final pressure. Wheeler struck his left footed cross right on top of the keeper. As the keeper failed to hold , the ball dropped on the line and Ellett stepped in to equalize. Is this Deja Vous or what ! Full Time 1-1.

Into extra time and Priorys spirits were high. Within minutes , another free kick for Priory , up stepped Wheeler , inswinging left footed free kick , keeper drops and this time Avery was in the right place to stab the ball over the line 2-1 , South Godstone all over again. For the first time in this game Priory were looking at possible victory. With the game still end to end Brockham were trying to get back into match and following a cross into Priorys box , Shear was judged to have hand balled and Brockham were awarded a penalty. This was converted with Shearman going the wrong way 2-2. The second period of extra time remained goalless thus taking the encounter to a penalty shoot out.

With the supporters of both teams at this point becoming extremely vocal it was going to take some cool brave heads to deal with the penalty taking.

Priory went first , up stepped 17 year old Luke Reid , scores 1-0 Priory. Brockham, scores 1-1.

Up Steps Shear , scores 2-1. Brockham , Shearman dives to right and saves. Up steps Whiting , keeper saves to his left 2-1.

Brockham , Shearman at full stretch saves 2-1. Up steps Ellett , scores 3-1. Brockham , scores 3-2. Up steps Moss , knowing a score seals victory. The big man does not dissapoint , strikes his shot beyond the keeper into the bottom right, 4-2 and Reigate Priory win the 2006/7 Senior Cup. Phew!

Special congratulations to 1st Team managers Andy Davis and Mark Peters for steering the Priory to a special and successful season. Since coming into the club they have work extremely hard with the squad and have brought on many youngsters who have featured in the second half of the season.
